Underworld Unbound: Gangs of London Begins Series 4 Production with Major New Cast Additions
LONDON — The fight for the capital’s soul has been reignited. Sky has today confirmed that cameras are officially rolling on the fourth series of the BAFTA-winning crime odyssey Gangs of London. As production gets underway across the city, the broadcaster has unveiled a raft of high-profile new signings set to join returning lead Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù in what is being teased as the show's most volatile chapter yet.
Following the explosive events of the third season, the new installment finds the city’s criminal landscape fractured by the looming threat of legalisation and intensified government crackdowns.
New Players, New Threats
While the core power players remain, Series 4 welcomes four significant new additions to the ensemble. Tamara Lawrance (Small Axe) joins the cast as Jo Malik, a character described as a pivotal figure in the reshaped underworld.
She is joined by international talent including Luna Fujimoto (Sniper: G.R.I.T.) as Hanaka, Eugene Nomura (Tokyo Vice) as Takeshi Kimura, and Melika Foroutan (The Empress) as Zerin. These additions suggest that the "London" gangs will face increasing pressure from ruthless syndicates arriving from overseas.
A Changing of the Guard
Behind the scenes, the series is undergoing a creative evolution. Jack Lothian (Who Is Erin Carter?, Strike Back) has stepped in as lead writer and executive producer. Direction for the new series will be led by Jean Luc Herbulot (Saloum), a filmmaker whose high-octane, visceral style is said to align perfectly with the "bone-crunching" lineage established by series co-creator Gareth Evans.

The Path to Redemption
The official synopsis for the new series reveals that Elliot Carter (Dìrísù) begins the season exiled from London. However, a "bloodied path to redemption" eventually pulls him back to the capital, where he finds his former allies and enemies pushed to the brink of survival.
The stakes are further heightened by the re-emergence of Zeek Kimura (Andrew Koji), whose secret lineage as Finn Wallace’s illegitimate son continues to cast a long shadow over the future of the Wallace and Dumani dynasties.
“Series 4 is about survival in a world that is moving faster than the gangs can keep up with,” a production source told The Hollywood Reporter. “The government crackdowns have forced these predators into a corner—and as we know, that’s when they are most dangerous.”
The ‘Raid’ Legacy
Fans of the show’s signature action sequences will be heartened by the appointment of Herbulot as lead director. His previous work has been compared to the "Midnight Madness" style of the original The Raid films, promising that the series will not shy away from its reputation as the most violent and kinetic drama on British television.
The returning cast also includes Michelle Fairley (Marian Wallace), Brian Vernel (Billy Wallace), Orli Shuka (Luan), and Narges Rashidi (Lale), ensuring that the complex web of blood ties and betrayals remains at the heart of the story.
Gangs of London Series 4 is expected to premiere on Sky and NOW in the UK, and AMC+ in the US, in early 2027.
