LAS VEGAS — The most lucrative rivalry in boxing history is officially back on the calendar. After a turbulent fortnight of venue cancellations and contract disputes, officials have confirmed that the long-awaited professional rematch between Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr. and Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao is "firmly back on track" for late September.

The most significant hurdle in recent weeks has not been the venue, but the status of the fight. Mayweather, 49, sparked a legal firestorm in March when he suggested the bout would be a non-sanctioned "exhibition".

Pacquiao’s team, led by MP Promotions, immediately pushed back, citing a contract for a sanctioned professional match that would impact their official records. Following intense legal pressure and a reported nine-figure breach-of-contract threat, Mayweather has formally recommitted to a professional bout.

This means Mayweather’s legendary 50-0 record is officially on the line against the 47-year-old Pacquiao (62-8-3).
