UK Government to Revive Job Programs to Boost Employment

UK Government to Revive Job Programs to Boost Employment

The British government wants to create more jobs and reduce the number of people not working. To do this they plan to bring back successful policies from the past. For an example Tony Blair’s "New Deal" from 1998 and the Future Jobs Fund after the 2008 financial crisis.

The main focus is to increase the employment rate from under 75% to 80%. To reach this goal the government will spend public money to expand job placement and training services. They will also empower job centers to help more people find suitable jobs and work closely with local services to improve coordination.

Alison McGovern believes these changes are essential to improve the country’s position in the global job market. She highlights that these new policies will focus on getting the right person into the right job rather than just processing benefits. A new paper outlining these proposals will be published soon by the Department for Work and Pensions.

Many think tanks and experts support this plan. They argue that funding job support can save money by reducing the need for unemployment benefits. The government hopes to make the UK a leader in job creation and support once again.
