China Limits Kids' Gaming Time for Holidays

China Limits Kids' Gaming Time for Holidays

New Rules for Gaming

NetEase Games is a large gaming company in China. It has set new limits for children who play video games. These are the rules are for the Mid Autumn Festival and National Day holidays.
Children are only allowed to play games at specific times and on certain days. They will not be able to play on 14th of September, 29th of September and 1st of October. These dates are part of China's special holidays.

Why Are There Limits?

China has been working to stop gaming addiction among kids. In 2021 the government set strict rules. Only Children under 18 can play video games for three hours a week. The allowed times are one hour each on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. There are also some extra hours on holidays.

The goal is to help children build healthier habits. Too much gaming can affect their health, sleep and school performance. The government believes these new rules will help prevent these problems.

How Are the Rules Enforced?

The rules are strict. To make sure they are followed gaming companies like NetEase and Tencent use real name verification systems. This means children must use their real names when they sign up to play games. Some companies also use facial recognition to check that the player is of the correct age.

Parents are also asked to help. They are encouraged to set limits at home and watch how much time their children spend playing games.

The Bigger Picture

China is not alone in trying to control gaming time for children. Other countries are also worried about gaming addiction. Some have also started to set limits though not as strict as China’s.

Gaming companies like NetEase and Tencent are doing their part to follow the rules. They have introduced new systems to stop kids from playing too much and spending too much money on games.
