BBC delayed Ozzy Osbourne film due to 'family's wishes'

family's wishes

The BBC has announced that it has postponed a documentary about Ozzy Osbourne's final years out of respect for his family's wishes. 'Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home', which was scheduled to air on BBC One at 21:00 BST on August 18, was pulled from the schedules earlier in the day.

Respecting the Family's Request

A statement from the BBC read: "Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family at this difficult time. We're honouring the family's request to wait a little longer before broadcasting this very rare film. The new [transmission] date will be announced shortly."

The BBC did not provide a specific reason for the delay. The film follows the musician's return to the United Kingdom, his farewell concert in July, and his subsequent death at the age of 76 later that month.

On Monday, the BBC stated the film had been "moved in the schedules" and replaced it with an episode of 'Fake Or Fortune'. Originally a 10-part series titled 'Home to Roost', it was intended to be an "attempt to re-start their lives" in Buckinghamshire. However, as Ozzy's health deteriorated, it was adapted into a single, hour-long film covering the last three years of his life.

A Touching and Inspirational Account

The BBC had previously described the programme as a "moving and inspiring account of Ozzy's last chapter of his life," offering viewers "unprecedented and intimate access to the entire Osbourne family, including Sharon, Jack, and Kelly." The broadcast was planned for less than a month after his burial and under three weeks after Sharon and the children appeared before crowds in Birmingham on the eve of his funeral.
