Prince Harry and Meghan To Move Back To UK

Prince Harry and Meghan To Move Back To UK

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are preparing to relocate back to the United Kingdom from their current home in California six years after stepping back from royal duties.

Prince Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, intend to settle in a private, non-royal property situated outside London before the end of the month. Their two children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, are signed up to attend a British school starting this September. King Charles was notified over the weekend, though the decision was not brought up when the Sussexes visited him at Highgrove in July.

While the monarch welcomes spending more personal time with his son and grandchildren, the transition will not alter the couple's official status. Harry and Meghan will continue as private citizens rather than resuming official roles as working royals, and they will not receive a hybrid arrangement. The Prince and Princess of Wales have also been alerted to the relocation, though observers have noted that the long-standing family tensions between the brothers are still unresolved.

The move marks a major shift for the family, who relocated to Montecito, California, in 2020. Security has consistently been a major hurdle for the couple when visiting the country. While the precise details surrounding their future protection are still undisclosed, a Home Office representative confirmed that security arrangements are determined by an independent board and evaluated systematically.

Meghan is expected to continue managing her lifestyle brand, As Ever, while living in the UK, with the couple also retaining properties in California and Portugal.
