William and Catherine release annual Christmas card portrait
The Prince and Princess of Wales have published a new family portrait, which features on the couple's 2025 Christmas card.
The photograph shows William and Catherine sitting on lush grass surrounded by spring daffodils, accompanied by their children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
"Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas," the couple posted on social media. The family snap was captured in Norfolk in April by photographer Josh Shinner.
It is a fresh look that highlights their closeness as a family. Prince William has previously discussed doing things differently, and this image suggests a move away from a more formal approach to royalty—a millennial vision of a relaxed, tie-less monarchy.
The Christmas card also reflects Catherine's gradual return to public life as she recovers from cancer and chemotherapy. Here, she demonstrates her closeness with her family. The photos appear to be from the same session used for Prince George's 12th and Prince Louis's seventh birthday portraits.
Last year, the couple unveiled a Christmas card with a personal touch, using a still from the video that announced the completion of Catherine's chemotherapy. She announced in January that she was in remission from cancer while making an emotional return to the hospital where she was treated.
A Year of Milestones đź‘‘
During a formal visit to the Isle of Mull, Scotland, William and Catherine celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary. In August, the couple made plans to move to Forest Lodge, Windsor, intended to be their "forever home."
William and Catherine are spending the festive season together and are expected to celebrate with the King and the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham, Norfolk, on Christmas Day.
Earlier this month, King Charles and Queen Camilla released their own Christmas card, featuring them in Rome. The smiling couple are shown on a garden path in a photograph taken in April during their state visit to Italy.
