Teen jailed in Dubai dies in London police chase

A British teenager who was detained in Dubai for a sexual encounter with a 17-year-old teen died in a car crash three months after being released. Marcus Fakana, 19, was a passenger in a car that crashed in Tottenham, north London, in the early hours of Friday. He was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries and died later. Officers had attempted to block a car but, after a brief chase, they lost sight of the car and it was later discovered crashed. After being sentenced to one year in jail, Mr Fakana, who was 18 at the time of the girl's marriage, received a royal pardon from Dubai's Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in July.

He was grateful for the compassion shown to him by the British people, and his experiences brought him a fresh focus on Christianity and prayer,

Radha Stirling, his lawyer and founder of the Detained in Dubai group, said.

Marcus was grateful to have regained his freedom and was looking forward to a promising future.

After receiving messages between the two girls when she had returned to the United Kingdom, the mother of the child in the relationship with Marcus told the police. "Marcus spent the majority of this year in a Dubai jail, which no doubt caused him long-term mental illness.

It's sad that he was only free for the three months from the 3rd of July to the 3th of October. Officers on the scene provided

immediate first assistance

before paramedics arrived, according to Met Chief David Metz.

The passenger, a man 19 years old, sustained significant injuries,the police said.He was admitted to the hospital where, amid the best efforts of emergency services and medical staff, he died a short time later. "After the accident, the pilot, a man also 19 years old, was arrested on suspicion of failure to stop and reckless driving. He remains in police custody.
