Extreme Heat Wave Sweeps Western US Breaking Records in Phoenix

The Western United States is going through an extreme heat wave. Temperatures in some desert areas are expected to rise to 49°C. In Phoenix, Arizona they have set a record with more than 100 days of temperatures. The temperature was above 38°C in the state. And that started on May 27th. The old record was 76 days and was set in 1993.

 

Other states that were affected by the heat wave are California, Washington and Oregon. The National Weather Service warns that people at high risk such as the homeless, elderly and children. NWS is saying that they will suffer from heat related illnesses.

 

The heat is expected to last several days before cooling down over the weekend. Therefore stay safe by drinking lots and lots of water, staying indoors and keeping an eye on family and friends that are exposed to this situation. Remember that extreme heat can be very dangerous. Take it seriously and take all the necessary steps to stay cool and safe.
