TOM HARDY 'FIRED' FROM MOBLAND AFTER SEASON 2 PRODUCTION CLASHES
LONDON — Tom Hardy has reportedly been dropped from Paramount+’s flagship British crime drama MobLand and will not return for its third season, following a string of major behind-the-scenes rows during the production of season two.
According to an industry report from Puck News, the Hollywood heavyweight was effectively "booted off" the high-profile gangster series after relations between the actor and the show’s creative team completely broke down.
Hardy, 48, starred as Harry Da Souza, a gritty, volatile fixer operating within the criminal underworld for the powerful Harrigan crime family. The series, which launched in 2025 to stellar ratings, quickly became Paramount+’s most-watched original drama outside of Taylor Sheridan’s television franchise.
However, sources close to the production claim that Hardy’s behaviour on set grew increasingly difficult during the filming of the upcoming second season, which wrapped in March. The actor allegedly frustrated crew members by being "consistently late" to set, and caused significant friction with the writers by repeatedly demanding script changes and rewriting his own dialogue.
Insiders also noted that the Mad Max and Peaky Blinders star grew heavily irritated by the creative direction of the show, which began shifting its focus away from his character to embrace a broader ensemble format. The series boasts a stacked, award-winning cast including Dame Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Paddy Considine.
According to the report, Hardy explicitly "expressed his displeasure" that a show originally built entirely around his performance was expanding into an ensemble piece. The tension on set reportedly became so toxic that showrunner and acclaimed writer Jez Butterworth threatened to walk away from the project entirely.
Faced with a choice between their star actor and their creative team, Paramount executives and producer David Glasser ultimately chose to sever ties with Hardy ahead of the season two premiere later this year.
While Hardy's initial contract is understood to have contained a mutual option for a third season, giving the actor the power to walk away voluntarily, industry insiders stress that the decision to terminate the partnership was firmly driven by the studio.
The news has sent shockwaves through the television industry and left fans questioning the future of the hit show, with many taking to social media to argue that Hardy was the primary draw of the London-based crime thriller.
Neither Paramount nor representatives for Tom Hardy have released an official statement, with both parties currently declining to comment.
