GTA 6 Worldwide Release Times Revealed

GTA 6 Worldwide Release Times Revealed

Rockstar Games is preparing to launch Grand Theft Auto 6 on November 19th for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rather than releasing simultaneously around the globe, the title will follow a rolling midnight local rollout, giving players in earlier time zones a substantial jump on playing time.

Data retrieved from regional digital storefronts reveals 15 primary release windows spanning global time zones. The staggered schedule starts in New Zealand at 11:00 UTC on November 18th (midnight local time on November 19) before moving through Australia, Asia, Europe, the UK, and ending in the Americas.

Because of the local midnight unlock structure, gamers in Central America and Mexico face the longest wait, receiving access up to 20 hours after New Zealand. UK players will see an unlock gap of roughly 13 hours compared to the earliest time zone.

This staggered schedule allows Xbox Series X/S owners to use a common system setting adjustment, which is often referred to as the "New Zealand trick", to access the game early:

  • Xbox Series X/S: Users can temporarily adjust location settings to New Zealand under system options (`Profile & System` > `Settings` > `System` > `Language & Location`) to unlock the game alongside the earliest region.
  • PlayStation 5: The region trick is not readily available on PS5, as early access requires creating a separate country-specific PlayStation Network account and funding the purchase using local currency or regional gift cards.

To help manage file sizes and server traffic on launch day, Rockstar will enable pre-loading starting November 12th. Pre-loading applies to both digital store pre-orders and boxed physical editions that ship with digital download keys. However, files remain software-locked until the local timezone opening arrives.

While Xbox users hold a convenience edge for launch timing, marketing for the title highlights exclusive controller integration on PlayStation 5. The PS5 version leverages DualSense haptics, adaptive triggers, internal controller speakers, 3D audio compatibility, and performance enhancements tailored for the PlayStation 5 Pro console.
