Teyana Taylor and Clipse Rule the Night as the 2026 BET Awards Crown Black Entertainment Elite
LOS ANGELES — Polymath entertainer Teyana Taylor and reunited hip-hop pioneers Clipse emerged as the undisputed sovereigns of Black entertainment last night, dominating the 2026 BET Awards during a high-octane ceremony packed with historical milestones.
Staged at the packed Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday 28th June, "culture's biggest night" was anchored by internet comedian Druski. At 31, the digital maven made history as the youngest solo host to ever steer the live broadcast, introducing an evening defined by a massive generational changing of the guard across music, film, and sport.
Leading the charge was Taylor, who completed a stunning clean sweep of her nominations. The A Thousand and One actress took home trophies for Best Actress, Video Director of the Year, and the inaugural Fashion Vanguard Award, before being reduced to tears when presented with the evening's premier honorary milestone: the BET Icon of the Year Award.
Virginia Dominion and Lamar’s Legacy
In the musical arenas, legendary Virginia rap duo Clipse, composed of brothers Pusha T and No Malice, orchestrated a flawless critical takeover.
Fueled by their heavily publicised studio comeback, the brothers scooped up Best Group and won Best Collaboration alongside Kendrick Lamar for their blistering street single, "Chains & Whips". The track laid the perfect foundation for their crowning achievement of the night, as their project Let God Sort 'Em Out was crowned Album of the Year.
Lamar’s collaborative win further cemented his untouchable status in BET history. Earlier in the evening, the Compton lyricist secured Best Male Hip Hop Artist for a record-extending ninth time.
A Changing of the Guard
The R&B categories witnessed a seismic shift that brought the Los Angeles crowd to its feet. Soul singer Kehlani claimed her first-ever Best Female R&B/Pop Artist trophy, officially ending SZA's three-year stranglehold on the category, whilst additionally picking up Video of the Year for her cinematic visual "Folded".
Meanwhile, Leon Thomas secured a spectacular upset in the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist field. The Mutt crooner beat out a field of legacy heavyweights that included Usher, Chris Brown, and Bruno Mars to claim his first solo BET statuette.
The international categories belonged entirely to London. Soul star Olivia Dean continued her remarkable global ascent by winning Best New Artist, fresh off her breakthrough Grammy success earlier this year. Dean becomes only the fifth artist in history to achieve the prestigious cross-Atlantic "New Artist" double win.
