Super Bowl 2024: Prepare for Blockbuster Movie Trailers & Epic Ads

Super Bowl 2024: Prepare for Blockbuster Movie Trailers & Epic Ads

The dust has settled on Super Bowl 2024, a whirlwind of sporting action, adorable puppies, and, of course, the commercials that everyone eagerly awaits. While Taylor Swift cheering on Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs to victory captured headlines, the real stars of the show were the carefully crafted marketing gems that bombarded viewers.

Big Screens, Bigger Trailers:

Movie studios dominated the commercial landscape, unveiling highly anticipated trailers. The return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in Deadpool and Wolverine sent comic book fans into a frenzy, offering a tantalising glimpse of the adamantium claws. Another highlight was the first trailer for the live-action Wicked, promising a magical journey to Oz. Even disaster films got a moment with the trailer for Twisters, a sequel to the 1996 classic.

Tech Takes a Backseat:

Surprisingly, tech giants largely sat out the Super Bowl ad rush this year. While glimpses of AI and cybersecurity appeared, we were spared the onslaught of cryptocurrency commercials that permeated previous years. Apple Music, sponsoring the halftime show, showcased Tim Cook and Ludacris in a humorous exchange, but even the highly anticipated Vision Pro ad was absent. Even more controversially, Paramount Plus elicited conflicting reactions with a commercial featuring Patrick Stewart singing Creed's "Higher."

Streaming: Convenience with Caveats:

The Super Bowl extended beyond traditional broadcasts, with streaming services like Paramount Plus, YouTube TV, Fubo, and Hulu Plus Live TV offering live viewing options. However, for some viewers, the convenience came with the usual streaming woes. Quality issues and buffering marred the experience for a handful of unlucky audiences.

The Takeaway:

Super Bowl 2024 offered a mixed bag. While the sporting event took centre stage, it was the commercials that truly captivated audiences. Movie trailers stole the show, while the tech industry's muted presence was a notable shift. Streaming provided accessibility, but quality issues remained a concern. Whether you were mesmerized by Wolverine's return, chuckled at Tim Cook's texting struggles, or witnessed streaming gremlins first-hand, Super Bowl 2024's commercials ensured one thing: entertainment beyond the gridiron.
