David Tennant to Host BAFTA Film Awards
Doctor Who star David Tennant is set to take the stage as the host of the upcoming BAFTA Film Awards on February 18 at London's Royal Festival Hall. This marks Tennant's first time hosting the prestigious ceremony, succeeding last year's host, Richard E Grant.
The announcement was met with excitement, with BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip saying, "We are over the moon that David Tennant will be our host. He is deservedly beloved by British and international audiences alike."
Tennant, 52, is renowned for his roles in TV series like Good Omens and his recent return to Doctor Who for its 60th anniversary episodes. He shared his enthusiasm, saying, "I am delighted to have been asked to host the EE BAFTA Film Awards and help celebrate the very best of this year's films and the many brilliant people who bring them to life."
Millichip praised Tennant's charm and mischievous wit, predicting that his presence will make the awards ceremony "a must-watch show."
In anticipation of the event, the BAFTA Film Awards longlists have been unveiled, featuring prominent films like Greta Gerwig's Barbie, Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, and Martin Scorsese's Killers Of The Flower Moon in multiple categories. Notable mentions include Lily Gladstone for leading actress in Killers of the Flower Moon and Bradley Cooper for leading actor in Maestro.
The final nominations are scheduled to be announced on January 18 by Naomi Ackie and Kingsley Ben-Adir, with the EE rising star award nominations set for January 10. The BAFTA Film Awards will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on February 18.
