Tesla’s New Battery Plans
Tesla is working on four new types of batteries. They will be ready by 2026. These batteries will be used in the company's upcoming “robotaxi”. They are planning to use these on as other electric vehicles like the Cybertruck.
The major progress comes from a new type of battery cell called the 4680. These cells use a technology known as "dry cathode". This technology can make them both cheaper and better. Tesla plans to incorporate them in the Cybertruck by the middle of 2025. But Tesla faced multiple challenges in producing these batteries. Greater defect rates during production is one of the main challenges.
