Ozzy Osbourne's Funeral Cortege To Pass Through Streets Of Birmingham Before Funeral

Fans from around the world will gather in Birmingham on Wednesday to say a final goodbye to Ozzy Osbourne as his funeral cortege travels through the city he proudly called home. Beginning at 1pm, the procession will pass along Broad Street and pause at the Black Sabbath Bridge and bench, where thousands have already left flowers and heartfelt messages. Accompanied by live music from local band Bostin’ Brass, the tribute will mark the rock legend’s last public moment before a private funeral.

The 76-year-old heavy metal pioneer died on July 22nd, less than three weeks after sharing the stage with his Black Sabbath bandmates one last time at Villa Park. That farewell gig, Back to the Beginning, raised £140 million for charity and was described by fans as a historic send-off. “Ozzy was more than a music legend — he was a son of Birmingham,” said Lord Mayor Zafar Iqbal, who praised the Osbourne family for covering the event’s costs and called the procession a “fitting, dignified tribute.”

Osbourne, who was awarded the Freedom of the City just weeks before his death, helped shape an entire genre of music and carried Birmingham’s name across the world. For those unable to attend in person, the city will continue streaming the Black Sabbath bench online. A petition to rename Birmingham Airport in his honour has also gathered over 46,000 signatures, underscoring the immense legacy left by the Prince of Darkness.
