BBC and ITV Announce Broadcast Deal For UEFA Women's Euro 2025

BBC and ITV Announce Broadcast Deal For UEFA Women's Euro 2025

BBC Sport and ITV have secured the broadcast rights for next year’s UEFA Women’s European Championship, ensuring that every match will be shown live across the UK.

The tournament, which kicks off on July 2nd in Switzerland, will be covered extensively by both broadcasters, with the final on July 27th airing on both channels. This collaboration marks a significant commitment to women's football, aiming to build on the success of recent tournaments.

The Lionesses, England’s women’s football team, will head to the tournament as defending champions, having secured qualification for Euro 2025 with a draw against Sweden. Their victory in the Euro 2022 final against Germany attracted a massive audience, with over 17 million viewers tuning in on BBC One. The Lionesses’ victory was particularly noteworthy, marking England’s first major tournament win since 1966.

The 2022 Women’s Euro tournament saw a total TV reach of 27.4 million viewers and 18 million streams on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app. Both broadcasters are eager to replicate that success, providing fans with free-to-air coverage of all the action next summer.

Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are still in contention for spots in the tournament, with their fates to be decided in October’s play-offs.

BBC Sport and ITV have been longtime supporters of women’s sports, and both networks are excited about bringing another major event to viewers. Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, emphasised the BBC’s commitment to showcasing the biggest sporting moments, while ITV’s Director of Sport, Niall Sloane, highlighted the success of ITV’s coverage of last year’s Women’s World Cup as a foundation to build upon.

In addition to live television coverage, BBC will provide comprehensive highlights on iPlayer, along with live radio commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live and 5 Sports Extra. Fans will also be able to catch up on matches via ITVX, and highlights will be available on ITV’s social media platforms.
