LOS ANGELES — Grammy-nominated R&B singer Jhené Aiko has officially released her fourth studio album, Westside Whimsy, via Def Jam Recordings, ending a six-year wait for a full-length follow-up to 2020’s platinum-selling Chilombo.
The sprawling 20-track project lands on streaming platforms today, anchored by a star-studded collection of West Coast collaborators. Headlining the record is a long-awaited reunion with rap icon Kendrick Lamar on the track So Good, marking their first official musical link-up in over a decade.
Infused with '90s nostalgia, California car culture, and sun-soaked coastal aesthetics, the album delivers on the lifestyle concept Aiko first teased earlier this year.
A Decade-in-the-Making Reunion
The inclusion of Kendrick Lamar on So Good stands as the album's flagship moment. The pair first collaborated on Lamar’s 2010 project Overly Dedicated (Growing Apart (To Get Closer)) before Aiko recruited the Compton MC for her breakout 2013 single Stay Ready (What a Life).
Beyond Lamar, Westside Whimsy leaning heavily into West Coast lineage. Longtime Top Dawg Entertainment collaborator Ab-Soul appears on Love Bomb, while Compton rapper Tyga joins Aiko on Like, Whatever. Bay Area staple Larry June features on Neighbors, following the duo's recent collaboration on California Dream.
"Westside Whimsy is a lifestyle," Aiko previously noted when hinting at the album's thematic direction. "Everything I do is that — it's rooted in the energy, the beach, and the ride."
Six Years in the Making
Westside Whimsy marks Aiko’s first full-length effort since Chilombo debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 in March 2020, earning three Grammy nominations including Album of the Year.
The rollout reflects a meticulously crafted narrative that began quietly at the start of 2026 with a high-profile luxury health smoothie collaboration bearing the album's title, before Aiko formally unveiled the 20-song tracklist earlier this week.
