Sony Pictures Drops Trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance,” Final Film in Venom Trilogy
Venom Returns for One Last Dance in Sony's Final Trilogy Film
Sony Pictures has officially released the first trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance,” marking the final installment in the Spider-Man villain trilogy. Tom Hardy reprises his role as Eddie Brock, the host for the brain-eating symbiote Venom. The movie is set to premiere in theaters on October 25.
A High-Stakes Finale
Billed as “the final film in the trilogy,” the movie's logline reveals that Eddie and Venom are on the run, hunted by entities from both their worlds. The duo must make a devastating decision that will bring their story to an epic conclusion.
In the newly released trailer, Hardy’s character confronts a massive symbiote alien from Venom’s home planet while also being pursued by government agents. The trailer promises plenty of symbiote action, including a scene where Eddie rides a super-fast, Venom-ized horse.
New and Returning Faces
Joining Hardy in this action-packed finale are Juno Temple of “Ted Lasso” fame and Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for his role in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
MCU Connections
Fans recently saw Venom teased in the MCU’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” post-credits scene. Dr. Strange’s spell, which brought various Spider-Man villains into the main MCU, also briefly transported Venom before he was sent back to his universe, leaving behind a piece of his symbiote.
Box Office Success and Creative Team
“Venom 3” was confirmed by Sony at CinemaCon 2022 following the success of its predecessors. The original “Venom” grossed $856 million globally, while “Let There Be Carnage” earned $502 million worldwide despite a pandemic debut.
Kelly Marcel, who wrote both “Venom” and “Let There Be Carnage,” makes her directorial debut with “Venom: The Last Dance.” Marcel co-wrote the script with Hardy and the pair are also producing alongside Avi Arad, Hutch Parker, Amy Pascal, and Matt Tolmach.
