Sir Paul McCartney: UK's First Billionaire Musician

81-year-old Sir Paul McCartney has made history as the UK's first billionaire musician, as reported by the 2024 Sunday Times Rich List. McCartney's ascent to billionaire status comes on the heels of his successful 2023 Got Back Tour, coupled with the increased value of his extensive back catalog. Notably, Beyoncé's rendition of the Beatles' classic "Blackbird" on her latest album, Cowboy Carter, has also contributed to McCartney's financial growth.

Musical Legacy and Recent Ventures

Last year saw the re-release of two iconic Beatles compilation albums, "1962-1966, The Red Album" and "1967-1970, The Blue Album," featuring 21 additional tracks. Additionally, a new Beatles song titled "Now and Then" was unveiled in 2023, marking the final track from the legendary band. The song, initially penned and sung by John Lennon in the late 1970s, was completed by McCartney and Ringo Starr decades later, thanks to advancements in audio restoration technology.

Financial Milestone

McCartney's wealth has seen a significant increase, soaring by £50 million to reach the monumental £1 billion mark. This achievement solidifies his position as one of the wealthiest individuals in the UK, a status he first claimed in 2022, when his fortune was valued at £865 million.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe: Among the UK's Wealthiest

In addition to McCartney's milestone, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, part-owner of Manchester United, ranks fourth on the Sunday Times Rich List with a staggering net worth of £23.52 billion. Ratcliffe is renowned as the founder and chairman of Ineos, a global chemicals company established in 1998.
