‘Prepare to Hee-Hee’: Scary Movie 6 Trailer Targets Michael Biopic and Modern Horror

LOS ANGELES — The Wayans brothers are officially back, and no one is safe. Paramount Pictures has released the second full trailer for Scary Movie 6, confirming that the long-dormant parody franchise has set its sights on the decade’s biggest horror hits, and one very high-profile musical biopic (trailer below).

The trailer, which arrived on Wednesday to coincide with the theatrical release of the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, has already sparked a firestorm of social media debate. In classic franchise fashion, the footage pulls no punches, featuring a "Michael Jackson" spoof (played by SNL veteran Kenan Thompson) in a clumsy, horror-infused reimagining of the King of Pop’s life.

The ‘Legacy’ Cast Returns

Perhaps the most significant revelation in the new trailer is the formal onscreen reunion of the "Core Four." After nearly 20 years away from the series, Marlon Wayans (Shorty), Shawn Wayans (Ray), Anna Faris (Cindy), and Regina Hall (Brenda) are all seen back in character, navigating a world of "requels" and "elevated horror."

“We’re back to cancel the cancel culture,” Marlon Wayans recently told reporters. “The world has gotten a little too quiet, a little too sensitive. It’s time to bring the noise back to the cinema.”

The trailer opens with a direct send-up of the subway sequence from Scream VI, before spiralling into a rapid-fire montage of parodies targeting:

  • M3GAN: Featuring a terrifyingly stiff dance-off with Brenda.

  • Terrifier 3: Skewering the infamous "Art the Clown" mall scene.

  • Smile & Longlegs: Reimagined as a bizarre, facial-contortion competition.

  • The Substance: A gruesome transformation sequence that Cindy Campbell somehow survives.

A ‘Touching’ Controversy

To accompany the trailer, Paramount released a provocative teaser poster featuring the iconic Ghostface killer dressed in Jackson’s signature fedora and glove. The tagline “Touching Fans Everywhere”, has been described by critics as a "surgical strike" on the current Michael biopic, which has faced its own criticism for allegedly "whitewashing" the singer’s controversial history.

The ‘White Chicks’ Stakes

The stakes for this revival go beyond the Scary Movie brand itself. Earlier this week, the Wayans brothers hinted that the future of their other cult classic, White Chicks, hinges entirely on the box office performance of this sixth instalment.

“If the fans show up for Scary Movie 6, we’re going straight into production on White Chicks 2,” Marlon Wayans teased on Instagram. “The scripts are ready. The wigs are ready. We just need to see that the world still wants to laugh.”

The Verdict

While early reviews of the trailer have praised the return of the original cast's chemistry, some modern critics have questioned whether the franchise’s "equal opportunity offender" brand of comedy will translate to a 2026 audience.

However, with advanced ticket sales already trending higher than any previous entry in the series, it seems the public’s appetite for a "no-holds-barred" parody is at an all-time high. In a year defined by serious, high-concept cinema, Scary Movie 6 is promising something much simpler: pure, unadulterated chaos.

Scary Movie 6 slashes into UK and US cinemas on 5th June 2026.
