‘No Auto-Tuning, No Trigger Warnings’: Sam Reid’s Lestat Channels Billy Idol in Electrifying Season 3 Trailer

NEW ORLEANS — The brat Prince of Darkness has officially traded his velvet frock coats for leather and safety pins. AMC has today released the first full trailer for The Vampire Lestat, the retitled third season of Interview with the Vampire, featuring a pulse-pounding cover of Billy Idol’s “Dancing With Myself” performed by series lead Sam Reid.

The trailer, which debuted online on Wednesday morning following a series of cryptic teasers, confirms that the new season will premiere on 7th June 2026. It finds Lestat de Lioncourt in full "immortal rockstar" mode, launching a global concert tour as a direct, middle-finger response to Daniel Molloy’s "perfunctory" bestseller.

‘Deliciously Undead’

Channelling a cocktail of 80s icons, equal parts Billy Idol, David Bowie, and a shirtless, visceral Iggy Pop, Sam Reid’s Lestat appears to be revelling in the chaos of his new-found public profile. The trailer opens with Lestat’s scathing review of Molloy’s book, before transitioning into a montage of high-octane stadium performances.

The centrepiece of the footage is a gritty, punk-infused rendition of “Dancing With Myself,” which serves as a fitting anthem for a character who has spent centuries grappling with isolation and a desperate need for an audience.

“No auto-tuning. No trigger warnings. All feels amplified,” the official logline reads, promising a season that leans into the high-glam, high-drama "Rock and Roll" theme of Anne Rice’s 1985 source novel.

Muses and Memories

While the trailer focuses heavily on the spectacle of the tour, it also teases the psychological toll of the "Great Conversion." AMC’s updated synopsis reveals that Lestat will be "haunted by muses from his rebellious past" as he travels from city to city.

Eagle-eyed fans have already noted flashes of figures from the lore, including the long-awaited arrival of Lestat’s mother, Gabrielle, and the ancient Those Who Must Be Kept. Returning cast members Jacob Anderson (Louis), Assad Zaman (Armand), and Delainey Hayles (Claudia) are all briefly sighted, suggesting that while Lestat may be the star of the show, his past is never far behind.

The ‘Lestat’ Persona

To coincide with the trailer, AMC has launched official artist profile pages for "Lestat" on Spotify and Apple Music. The fictional band, which includes new cast additions such as Jennifer Ehle and Noah Reid, is being marketed as a real-world entity, with "concert posters" appearing in major cities from London to Los Angeles.

Showrunner Rolin Jones has described the shift in tone as a necessary evolution. “If Season 1 was a Gothic romance and Season 2 was a psychological thriller, Season 3 is a grand, operatic rock tour,” Jones told The Playlist. “It’s about what happens when the most arrogant man in history finally gets a microphone.”

A Summer of Blood and Bass

The production, which moved from New Orleans to various European locations to capture the "multi-city tour," looks significantly more expansive than previous seasons. With original music composed by Daniel Hart, the series is positioning itself as a summer event that bridges the gap between prestige television and a stadium concert experience.

As Lestat sneers in the trailer’s final moments: “I didn't like me in the book... so I decided to rewrite the ending.”

The Vampire Lestat premieres Sunday 7th June 2026, on AMC and AMC+.
