‘Significant and Ongoing Fear’: Sabrina Carpenter Granted Protective Order After Stalker Tries to Force Entry Into Her Home

LOS ANGELES — Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has been granted an emergency temporary restraining order against an alleged stalker following a series of "deeply alarming" security breaches at her home in California.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge signed off on the protective mandate following a civil harassment petition filed by the 27-year-old Espresso singer. The order officially mandates that 31-year-old William Applegate must remain at least 100 yards away from Carpenter, her private residence, and her workplace until a full court hearing takes place later this month.

The injunction additionally covers Carpenter's sister, Sarah Carpenter, 29, and her partner, George Smith, 26, who share the Los Angeles residence with the chart-topping performer.

The Front Door Confrontation

According to sworn legal declarations submitted to the court, the disturbing pattern of behavior began as early as 20th April 2026, with Applegate allegedly casing and conducting surveillance on the pop star’s property.

The situation escalated into a direct crisis on Saturday 23rd May. Court papers state that Applegate trespassed onto a neighbouring property to bypass security fencing, advancing directly onto Carpenter's grounds. Doorbell camera footage captured the suspect walking up to the main entrance, where he aggressively grabbed the lever of the front door and forcefully pushed it down in an active attempt to break into the house.

When confronted by the singer's private security team, Applegate reportedly refused to leave, displaying what security described as a "delusional insistence" that he personally knew Carpenter and was expected inside. He was subsequently detained at the scene until Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers arrived to place him under arrest for criminal trespass.

“The totality of Applegate's conduct has caused me significant and ongoing fear for my personal safety,” Carpenter wrote in a chilling personal declaration. “His act of physically attempting to open and enter my front door, without invitation, consent, or any lawful basis is among the most disturbing violations of personal safety and privacy I have ever experienced.”

 

A Defiant Return

Alarmingly, the initial police intervention failed to deter the alleged stalker. Following his arrest on 23rd May, Applegate was booked on a misdemeanor charge and immediately released from local custody.

Private security logs submitted to the judiciary show that he returned to the pop star's property the very next day, 24 May, and again on Monday 25th May. On the latter occasion, guards observed Applegate sitting in a vehicle parked directly outside the residence, conducting open surveillance on the house for more than two hours before police were summoned a second time.

Investigating LAPD Detective Peter Doomanis strongly supported the pop star’s emergency petition, filing a separate assessment highlighting the suspect’s "dangerous, delusional, and irrational fixation."

In his declaration, Detective Doomanis noted that Applegate’s psychological trajectory perfectly mirrors well-documented patterns of celebrity stalking, where a fixated individual interprets an artist's public, highly relatable persona as a sign of an intimate, real-world connection.

The case has been formally referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office for potential criminal stalking charges. Representatives for Carpenter have declined to comment publicly on the ongoing legal proceedings, while Applegate could not be reached for comment. A full evidentiary hearing on 17th June will determine whether the temporary protective order will be converted into a permanent, multi-year injunction.
