‘Broken Promises in Gag City’: Production Company Sues Nicki Minaj for $275,000 Over Unpaid Tour Debts

LOS ANGELES — The pink smoke from the Pink Friday 2 World Tour has cleared, revealing a growing mountain of legal trouble for Nicki Minaj. A prominent live event production company has filed a scathing lawsuit against the "Super Freaky Girl" rapper, alleging she shortchanged them out of more than $275,000 (approx £215,000 GBP) for services rendered during her 2024–2025 global trek.

The complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday, March 23, 2026, by Artistry in Motion (AIM) Productions, claims that Minaj and her company, Pink Personality LLC, failed to satisfy multiple outstanding invoices related to the intricate stage design, lighting, and technical logistics of her "Gag City" world tour.

“Unpaid and Unresponsive”

According to court documents, AIM Productions was contracted to provide specialized visual effects and set pieces that defined the futuristic aesthetic of the tour. The company alleges that while the tour grossed record-breaking numbers crossing the $100 million mark earlier this year—the rapper has been "unresponsive and dismissive" regarding the final balance.

The lawsuit breaks down the $275,000 debt into several categories:

  • $140,000 in labor costs for specialized technicians.

  • $85,000 in unreturned equipment and custom set repairs.

  • $50,000 in late fees and interest accrued since December 2025.

“Our client provided world-class production value that helped make the Pink Friday 2 Tour a global success,” the company's attorney, Jeffrey Marcus, said in a statement. “It is disappointing that a multi-millionaire artist would choose to ignore legitimate business debts to the hard-working crews who brought her vision to life.”

A Pattern of Legal Friction

The AIM Productions lawsuit is the latest in a series of financial and civil disputes for Minaj. Just two months ago, in January 2026, the rapper narrowly avoided a court-ordered sale of her $20 million Hidden Hills mansion after finally satisfying a long-outstanding $503,000 judgment involving a 2019 assault by her husband, Kenneth Petty.

Additionally, Minaj is still fighting a separate assault and battery lawsuit from a former tour manager, Brandon Garrett, who claims the rapper physically struck him backstage in Detroit during the same tour.

Case Allegation Amount / Status
AIM Productions Unpaid tour production fees $275,000 (New Lawsuit)
Thomas Weidenmuller German concert assault judgment $503,318 (Paid Jan 2026)
Brandon Garrett Backstage assault/battery Ongoing Investigation
Tracy Chapman Copyright Infringement $450,000 (Settled 2021)

The “Pink Friday” Fallout

While the Pink Friday 2 Tour was a commercial juggernaut, it was also plagued by logistical hurdles, including a highly publicized arrest and fine in Amsterdam for drug possession in May 2024, which forced the postponement of several UK dates.

In the lawsuit, AIM Productions suggests that some of the "chaos" behind the scenes led to the financial breakdown. The company claims that last-minute schedule changes and "irrational demands" increased the workload without a corresponding adjustment in payment.

Silence from the Queen

Nicki Minaj, 43, has yet to address the $275,000 lawsuit directly on her social media platforms, where she usually interacts with her "Barbz" fanbase. Her lead counsel, Judd Burstein, has previously characterized similar claims from former staff as "false and frivolous," though he has not yet filed a formal response to the AIM Productions complaint.

As the "Queen of Rap" prepares for her rumored headline slot at the 2026 Roots Picnic this May, she does so under a darkening cloud of litigation that suggests the business side of "Gag City" is far from settled.
