Former Conservative MP Crispin Blunt has pleaded guilty to multiple drug possession offences after police found illegal substances at his home in Surrey.
The 65-year-old appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to one count involving class A drugs and three counts related to class B substances linked to drugs found during a police search in October 2023. Officers discovered cannabis, methamphetamine (commonly known as crystal meth) and the sedative GBL during the raid of his property.
The court heard that the drugs were uncovered while police were investigating separate allegations.
Prosecutor Zarah Dickinson said: “This arises from a police investigation into offences alleged to have occurred during a chemsex party at Mr Blunt’s home address in September 2023.” She added: “No charges were brought on those alleged offences.”
During the search, officers found crystal meth worth up to £250 on a bedside table, along with bottles containing a mix of methamphetamine and amphetamine. A syringe filled with GBL was also recovered from a laptop bag, and a small quantity of cannabis and weighing scales with residue were seized.
According to the prosecution, Blunt was cooperative during the raid. He was described as “polite” and “calm” and even directed officers to the drugs.
The investigation that led to the search lasted 18 months, but police confirmed in May last year that no further action would be taken over the rape allegation due to insufficient evidence.
Blunt, who represented Reigate from 1997 until 2024, handled his own defence in court. Over his political career, he held roles in government, including serving as a justice minister under David Cameron, and later chaired the Foreign Affairs Committee.
He lost the Conservative whip position following his arrest in 2023 and stepped down from Parliament at the 2024 general election. Before entering politics, he trained at Sandhurst and spent over a decade serving in the British Army.
