Doughnut Heist Ends with Sweet Justice for Sydney Thief
In a bizarre doughnut caper, a 28-year-old woman in Sydney has been charged after stealing a Krispy Kreme delivery van filled with 10,000 doughnuts.
The stolen van, which was en route to Newcastle, was taken from a Carlingford service station on November 29. CCTV footage revealed the woman lingering at the service station around 4:00 AM on November 29 before seizing the unattended delivery van, raising questions about whether she was aware of the delicious cargo.
Krispy Kreme promptly reported the incident to the police, assuring customers of their efforts to replace the stolen doughnuts.
The doughnuts, a mix of Christmas-themed and classic varieties, met an unfortunate fate as the van was later found abandoned in a Parramatta car park on December 8, with the pastries destroyed.
Police apprehended the woman at St Marys Railway Station on Thursday and subsequently charged her with multiple offences. She was denied bail and is scheduled to appear before Penrith Local Court on Thursday.
This doughnut drama took an unexpected turn as detectives followed a trail of crumbs to locate the abandoned vehicle more than a week later. The woman now faces charges, including vehicle theft and driving while disqualified, adding a sprinkle of irony to her doughnut-filled escapade.
