Boy, 15, appears in court over murder of girl, 9
In court over the murder of a nine-year-old teen, a 15-year old boy appeared. Aria Thorpe, a woman discovered dead at a house in Weston-super-Mare on Monday evening, was identified by police earlier. On Wednesday, the teen defendant, who cannot be identified due to his age, appeared only to announce his name and address at Bristol Magistrates' Court, refusing to reveal his name or address. According to Avon and Somerset Police, the probable cause of Aria's death was a single stab wound.
The juvenile was remanded into custody by District Judge Nicholas Wattam and told his next court appearance would be in Bristol Crown Court on Friday, after three dock officers and wearing a grey prison-issue tracksuit. His father was among those present in court.
