Bank Launches Mobile Branch
In the aftermath of the devastating Noto Peninsula earthquake, Kono Shinkin Bank has taken a resilient step towards restoring local banking services. Forced to close several branches due to building damage, the bank has introduced a mobile office to ensure continued access to financial services for residents of Noto Town and surrounding areas.
Headquartered in Noto Town, Kono Shinkin Bank faced significant challenges in the wake of the earthquake, with four branches remaining closed and others operating under reduced hours due to employees' commuting difficulties. The branch in Anamizu Town, in particular, suffered structural damage, rendering it inoperable.
Despite these setbacks, Kono Shinkin Bank has launched a mobile branch initiative to serve affected communities. On January 18, a mobile office equipped with ATMs and counter service was established in the parking lot of the bank's employee dormitory. Additionally, a consultation desk has been set up to assist individuals who have lost their bankbooks, cash cards, or require guidance on loan repayments.
Oketani Hiroyoshi, manager of the Anamizu branch, expressed the bank's dedication to supporting the community during this challenging period. He emphasized their collective effort to expedite the recovery process and alleviate the hardships faced by residents and businesses alike.
In a promising development, Kono Shinkin Bank reopened its Monzen branch in Wajima City on February 7, signaling progress towards normalizing operations. Further branch reopenings are anticipated in the near future, underscoring the bank's commitment to restoring vital financial services to impacted regions.
As Kono Shinkin Bank navigates the aftermath of the Noto Peninsula earthquake, its swift response and innovative approach to maintaining local banking services serve as a beacon of resilience. Through the establishment of a mobile branch and ongoing efforts to reopen shuttered branches, the bank reaffirms its unwavering support for the community's recovery journey.
