Accidental Tragedy on the LIRR: Former Billie Eilish Stalker Struck and Killed by Train

WESTBURY, NY — A man who once gained international notoriety for his persistent stalking of pop superstar Billie Eilish has died after a horrific encounter with a commuter train. Prenell Rousseau, 30, was struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train during the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 25, 2026, according to officials.

The incident occurred near the Westbury station around 5:38 a.m. Law enforcement sources indicate that Rousseau was running "on or near" the tracks at the time of the collision. While the investigation remains ongoing, the MTA and local police are currently treating the death as a tragic accident.

The Westbury Disturbance

The early morning commute was thrown into chaos as the train, carrying approximately 100 passengers, came to an emergency halt. Following the strike, the LIRR suspended service on the Ronkonkoma Branch for several hours while forensic teams processed the scene.

“All evidence at this stage suggests the victim was exercising in a restricted area adjacent to the line,” a law enforcement source told the New York Post. “There are no signs of foul play or intentional self-harm at this time.”

A History of Obsession

Rousseau first made headlines in May 2020 after a series of "frightening" encounters at the Eilish family home in Los Angeles. Then 24, Rousseau reportedly appeared at the residence seven times in two days, displaying erratic behavior that forced the singer to seek legal protection.

According to court documents from the 2020 filing, Eilish described a chilling scene where Rousseau sat on her porch and began reading a book while engaging in a "periodic monologue," refusing to leave even after being confronted by her father, Patrick O'Connell.

4th-5th May 2020 Seven uninvited visits to Eilish residence. Arrested for trespassing.
11th May 2020 Temporary restraining order granted. Rousseau ordered to stay 200 yards away.
June 2020 Permanent restraining order issued. 3-year protection order enacted by judge.
June 2023 Restraining order expires. No further public incidents reported.
25th March 2026 Fatal LIRR train strike. Pronounced dead at the scene.

The Weight of Fame

The news of Rousseau’s death has reignited conversations regarding the mental health of celebrity obsessives and the ongoing safety concerns for high-profile artists. Eilish has been vocal about the "substantial anxiety" caused by multiple stalkers over the years, including separate 2023 cases involving individuals Christopher Anderson and Raymond Black.

In her 2024 track "The Diner", Eilish explored the perspective of a stalker, a creative choice many fans believed was a way of processing the trauma of these real-life intrusions.

What’s Next?

Representatives for Billie Eilish have not yet released a statement regarding the incident. The LIRR has reminded the public that walking or jogging on railroad tracks is not only illegal but extremely dangerous due to the speed and relative silence of modern electric trains.

Rousseau, a resident of Farmingdale, New York, had largely remained out of the public eye since his restraining order expired in 2023. A full toxicology report from the Nassau County Medical Examiner’s office is expected in the coming weeks.
