Ubisoft Confirms Assassin's Creed Remakes Are In The Works
Ubisoft has confirmed that remakes of older Assassin's Creed games are in the works.
In an interview on Ubisoft's website, CEO Yves Guillemot said, "Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernise them."
While specifics about which titles are being remade were not disclosed, Guillemot emphasised that these remakes would tap into the rich worlds of the series' past entries.
One highly anticipated remake that fans are speculating about is 2013's Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. Insider Gaming has reported that this game is under development with the codename Obsidian.
Ubisoft has yet to confirm this, but footage of Edward Kenway, the game's protagonist, has been seen by some insiders.
In addition to the remakes, Guillemot highlighted that the future of Assassin's Creed will feature a variety of experiences. Upcoming titles include an Assassin's Creed game with the codename Hexe, and Assassin's Creed Shadows, set in Japan, that’s due to be released in November this year.
Ubisoft's push for remakes comes alongside their plan to release Assassin's Creed games more regularly, aiming to offer diverse experiences each time. The remakes will use the evolved "Anvil Pipeline" engine, enhancing in-game animations, parkour, and more.
With remakes and new games on the horizon, the Assassin's Creed franchise is set for a dynamic future. Fans are eagerly awaiting more details, particularly about which beloved titles will be getting a modern makeover.
