US House Releases 33,000 Pages Of Epstein Files

US House Releases 33,000 Pages Of Epstein Files

The House Oversight Committee has released more than 33,000 pages of documents related to the federal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender. The files, which were provided by the Department of Justice after a subpoena, include flight logs, jail surveillance video, court filings, and police interviews. However, a bipartisan group of lawmakers and many Epstein victims have expressed disappointment in the pages, arguing that they contain little new information. Democrat Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, stated, “To the American people – don’t let this fool you.” He added that “97% of the documents received from the Department of Justice were already public.”

A key new element is a longer video from outside Epstein's jail cell on the night of his death, which now includes a so-called "missing minute" from a previously released version. This anomaly had fueled conspiracy theories about his official cause of death, which was ruled a suicide. The new records also contain some U.S. Customs and Border Protection flight logs, which were the "only new disclosure," according to Congresswoman Summer Lee. Other files, such as bodycam footage from police searches and interviews with victims, appear to be previously known.

The release comes as the Trump administration has faced growing pressure from both sides of the aisle, including its own supporters, to be more transparent about the case. Despite the release, a bipartisan effort is underway in Congress to force the Department of Justice to publish all of its Epstein files. House Speaker Mike Johnson and other lawmakers met with victims of Epstein’s abuse, with one representative describing the case as a “cover-up of epic proportions.” Victims and lawmakers are expected to hold a press conference to continue their call for justice and a full release of all documents.
