Roblox Introduces New Parental Controls to Enhance Child Safety

Roblox is rolling out new safety features to help parents better manage their children's experience on the platform. Starting today, parents can block specific games and experiences, as well as control which users their children can interact with. This comes after growing concerns over child safety, with incidents of grooming and exposure to inappropriate content making headlines. Parents will also be able to see the top 20 games their child has played in the past week, giving them more transparency over their child’s activity.
These new controls build on previous updates aimed at making Roblox a safer space, such as limiting children under 13 from accessing social hangouts and allowing parents to manage friend lists. The company emphasized that children under 13 won’t be able to unblock users or games without parental approval. Roblox’s Chief Safety Officer, Matt Kaufman, explained, "In developing parental controls, we prioritize transparency and ease of use to make it as simple as possible for parents to implement them."
The updates are part of Roblox’s ongoing efforts to address safety concerns. Although the company has made strides in improving its safety measures, many parents are calling for even stronger protections. As one parent put it, while the new tools are "a start," there's still much more to be done to ensure the platform is fully safe for younger users.
