Adele Announces Break From Music
Adele has announced plans to take an extended break from music after her current string of concerts.
The British singer, known for her powerful vocals and emotive performances, told German broadcaster ZDF, "My tank is quite empty at the minute. I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after all this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while."
The 36-year-old artist has been performing in a weekend residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for the past two years, and recently completed her 90th show there. She described the experience as emotionally draining. "Even though it's a very manageable size of crowd, it's really been an emotional exchange," she said. Adele’s residency in Vegas is set to finish in November.
Before that, Adele will be performing in Munich for the first time since 2016, with a 10-date series of gigs at a specially-built stadium that can host 80,000 fans each night. "It's all a bit bloody exciting," she wrote on Instagram, sharing images of the venue. Despite the excitement, Adele admitted she’s ready for a pause. "You know, I don’t even sing at home at all. How strange is that?”
Her Munich shows are designed to be a grand spectacle, featuring an "Adele experience" with an English pub, a cover band stage, and stalls selling custom cocktails. The venue will also aim for a Guinness World Record with the largest outdoor screen ever, measuring 220 metres in length. Despite the grand setup, 5% of tickets are still available, according to German press agency DPA.
In addition to her busy concert schedule, Adele has been candid about the challenges of fame. "I miss everything about before I was famous, I think probably being anonymous the most," she said. "The fame side of it, I absolutely hate. The fact that people are even interested in my songs and my voice is pretty wild."
Adele's plans for her break from music include exploring other creative endeavours. While she hasn’t specified what she intends to pursue, Forbes reported that she was approved for a trademark in the UK for a company called The Shelbourne Collective Limited, registered for "specialised design activities."
Her last album, "30," was released in 2021 and dealt with personal themes, including her divorce. The album followed her previous successful releases, "19," "21," and "25." Despite her plans to step back from music, Adele remains one of the most influential voices in the industry.
As she prepares for her final shows in Munich, Adele reflects on her journey and the toll of constant performance. "It's worth it, the balance," she concluded, acknowledging both the joy and the exhaustion that come with her career. Fans will have to wait to see what creative paths she decides to explore next.
