Former Superman Actor Dean Cain Says He’s Joining ICE
Dean Cain, best known for playing Superman in the '90s, says he's joining ICE as soon as possible after his recruitment video for the agency went viral. Speaking on Fox News, Cain said, “I will be sworn in as an ICE agent asap,” referencing his background as a sworn deputy sheriff and reserve police officer. He also told viewers, “People have to step up. I’m stepping up.” His decision comes as the Trump administration pushes to massively expand deportation efforts, with ICE aiming to hire 10,000 new agents and offering sign-on bonuses of up to $50,000.
The move sparked intense backlash online, with some fans branding Cain the “worst superman ever” and accusing him of betraying the spirit of the character he once played. But Cain is standing firm, calling the immigration system “broken” and saying, “This country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not, and doing the right thing.” In his recruitment video, Cain said ICE is “arresting the worst of the worst,” encouraging others to join the agency “to help save America.”
Cain’s announcement comes amid record funding for ICE and increased pressure from President Trump, who has pledged to ramp up deportations to one million per year. While ICE arrests are rising, especially in red states and prisons, data shows many immigrants detained in blue states are being picked up from streets and workplaces, sparking protests. Still, Cain said, “This is what people voted for… and I’ll do my part.”
