“It’s Crime Time”: DreamWorks Renews ‘The Bad Guys: Breaking In’ for Season 2 at Netflix

LOS ANGELES — The heist of the century isn't over. Just as the franchise gears up for a massive month on streaming, DreamWorks Animation and Netflix have officially confirmed that the prequel series The Bad Guys: Breaking In has been renewed for a second season.

The announcement was accompanied by an action-packed trailer released on Wednesday 4th March revealing that the new episodes will drop globally on 2nd April 2026. The timing is strategic, landing precisely two weeks after the theatrical sequel, The Bad Guys 2 (2025), makes its highly anticipated subscription streaming debut on Netflix on 21st March.

New Lairs, New Villains

Season 2 picks up immediately after the gang’s successful "heist-a-thon" in the first season, which firmly placed Mr. Wolf and his crew on the map as the city’s most formidable petty crooks.

According to the official synopsis, the crew will be moving into a "snazzy new evil lair" to facilitate even bolder schemes. However, their rise to infamy attracts more than just headlines. The Bad Guys will face a dual threat this season:

  • The Ghost of Heists Past: A re-emergence of Mr. Wolf’s old mentor, who returns to pull the strings of a much larger conspiracy.

  • The Vigilante: A mysterious new adversary who has called for an end to all crime in the city, taking matters into their own hands to shut down the gang’s operations for good.

The Returning Cast

While the feature films boast A-listers like Sam Rockwell and Awkwafina, the series continues to find success with its dedicated television voice cast. Confirmed to return for Season 2 are:

  • Michael Godere as Mr. Wolf

  • Chris Diamantopoulos as Mr. Snake

  • Ezekiel Ajeigbe as Mr. Shark

  • Raul Ceballos as Mr. Piranha

  • Mallory Low as Ms. Tarantula

The series remains under the creative leadership of executive producers Bret Haaland and Katherine Nolfi, who have steered the franchise's television expansions, including the A Very Bad Holiday and Haunted Heist specials.

The “Bad Guys” Hub

With this latest renewal, Netflix has officially become the "Home of the Bad Guys." By mid-April, the platform’s library will include:

  1. The Bad Guys (Original 2022 Film)

  2. The Bad Guys 2 (2025 Sequel — Arriving 21st March)

  3. Breaking In (Seasons 1 & 2)

  4. A Very Bad Holiday & Haunted Heist (Animated Specials)

Despite the recent departure of sequel co-director JP Sans and producer Damon Ross for Sony Pictures Animation, the franchise's television wing appears to be operating at full throttle. Fans are already speculating that the events of Breaking In Season 2 may provide the connective tissue needed for a potential third theatrical film.
