Suicide Partners Online

Why Hundreds of Britons Are Seeking Suicide Partners Online

A website that supports suicide has a special area where people can find others to die with. Over 700 Brits have used this site to look for a suicide partner. Some people have actually died together after meeting on this site. Sadly, bad people have also used it to hurt women who are feeling low.

The Sad Story of Brett Stevens

In 2019, Brett Stevens, who was 28, met a woman on the website. They went to Scotland together and both took their own lives. Brett's mum, Angela, says the site is very dangerous. She thinks it's like a dating app, but for dying.

More Tragic Stories: Linda and Sarah Kite

Linda Kite used the website to find someone to die with in 2023. She met a stranger, and they died together in a hotel. Linda's sister, Helen, was very upset. Sadly, Helen's other sister, Sarah, also used the website and died by suicide later that year.

Bad People Targeting Vulnerable Women

Some people are using the website to hurt others who are feeling suicidal. Craig McInally, from Glasgow, contacted young women on the site. He tricked them and hurt them. He was sent to prison for this.

People Travelling to Meet Suicide Partners

Some people have even travelled to other countries to meet suicide partners. A man from America came to the UK and stayed in a hotel with a young woman he met on the site. She died, but he wasn't charged with any crime.

What's Being Done About It?

The government has made a new law to help stop harmful websites. They want to protect people as soon as possible. But it will take some time before the law starts working properly.
