UK inflation falls to 7.9%

There is a significant fall in UK inflation statistics. It would mean that there might be a change for people, who were not able to afford all of their personal needs.

The Office for National Statistics wrote that the UK's rate of inflation dropped to 7.9% in the year to June.

As BBC writes, "It means the rate of price rises in the UK has slowed more than expected, down from 8.7% in May - although it still remains high".

It does not change the fact this fact gives hope to consumers, who were affected by the cost rise not only in the shops but also at their own houses. Water, gas and energy - all the prices went up while the government's support was not providing the full recompensation for the cost increase.

This is why Liberal Democrat leader, Sir Ed Davey, told BBC that the government is still not doing enough. He said that it "bears some of the blame for" the food costs rise and other elements as well.

It is at the lowest point in the last several months; compared to the peak of 11.1% from 2022 it is a substantial change for the entire UK.
