Seaside funfair worker dies in 'tragic accident'

In what has been described as a tragic crash, a much-loved

seaside fairground worker was fatally wounded. Officers from Northumbria Police were dispatched to Whitley Bay shortly before 14:15 BST on Saturday after a man in his twenties sustained serious head injury in his 20s. The Health and Safety Executive has been alerted that the funfair, which was supposed to take place over the Bank Holiday weekend, will be postponed until further notice. Turners Funfairs announced on Facebook that it had been
heartbroken. One of our much-loved coworkers has unfortunately died in the aftermath of a tragic accident.

Our team is like a family, and we are all deeply affected by this loss.
Spanish City Funfair will remain closed this weekend as a mark of respect," the festival's founders say, while we take the time to grieve together.

Investigation launched

We dispatched a rapid response paramedic, a medical team leader, an emergency ambulance team, and the air ambulance,
a North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said.
An off-duty medic was also on hand to assist the patient while the ambulance was traveling.
Despite the best efforts of medical personnel who attended the scene, a short time later the man was sadly announced dead,a Northumbria Police spokesperson said.We've contacted the Health and Safety Executive and are working with them to find out exactly what happened.
