‘Live from London’: Nicola Coughlan and Aimee Lou Wood Confirmed as Next SNL UK Hosts
LONDON — Sky has officially named the next two stars set to grace the Saturday Night Live UK stage as the inaugural season enters its final stretch. Nicola Coughlan and Aimee Lou Wood have been confirmed as hosts for the upcoming episodes, following a scheduled one-week hiatus for the late-night sketch show.
The announcement comes as the series, which is broadcast live from London at 10pm every Saturday, looks to maintain momentum following a star-studded opening month that featured the likes of Tina Fey and Jamie Dornan.
The Regency Meets the Rock Gods
Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton, Derry Girls) will front the show’s return on 25th April. The Galway-born actress, whose comedic timing made her a breakout star on Channel 4, will be joined by the legendary Foo Fighters.
The booking marks a significant milestone for the UK franchise; while the Foo Fighters are nine-time veterans of the American version, their appearance on 25 April will be their official SNL UK debut and the first time a non-British musical act has been booked for the London show.
A ‘White Lotus’ Welcome
The following week, on 2 May, BAFTA-winner Aimee Lou Wood will take the reins. Best known for her roles in Sex Education and The White Lotus, Wood’s hosting gig is particularly notable following a brief social media spat with the US version of the show last year, after she labelled a parody of her White Lotus character “mean and unfunny”.
Wood will be accompanied by British breakthrough artist MEEK (Georgia Meek), continuing the show’s trend of pairing established global stars with rising domestic musical talent.

The Ratings Game
While SNL UK launched to a solid 226,000 viewers for its premiere, the series has faced the typical growing pains of a new format. Recent figures for the Jack Whitehall-hosted fourth episode showed a dip to roughly 120,000 viewers.
However, Sky executives have remained bullish, pointing to the show's massive digital footprint. Sketches featuring the inaugural cast, including Hammed Animashaun, Ania Magliano, and Emma Sidi, have consistently gone viral, racking up millions of views across TikTok and Instagram.
A Bold New Chapter
Produced by Universal Television and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video, the UK adaptation has sought to retain the "highwire" energy of the original 1975 format while carving out a distinctly British identity.
“This is about blending a storied legacy with a fresh generation of British comedy voices,” a Sky spokesperson said on Tuesday. “Having Nicola and Aimee, two of the most versatile actors working today, join us for this final run of episodes is exactly the energy we want.”
With only four episodes remaining in the first season, all eyes will be on the 10pm slot on 25th April to see if the "Regency Queen" and Dave Grohl can deliver the show's biggest night yet.
