Manhunt for Gunman After Deadly Shooting in Swiss Town

Manhunt for Gunman After Deadly Shooting in Swiss Town

A manhunt is underway in Sion, Switzerland, as authorities search for 36-year-old Robin Sebastien, the alleged gunman responsible for a shooting that left two people dead and one injured in the southern town.

The incident occurred on Monday morning, with shots fired at the Sarosa painting company in the Ronquoz and Potences areas.

Police in the Valais region have issued a warning, describing Sebastien as "dangerous" and advising the public not to approach him.

The suspect was last seen driving a grey Peugeot 206 Cabriolet, prompting the deployment of roadblocks around Valois to prevent his escape.

Authorities believe Sebastien knew his victims, though the motives behind the shooting remain unknown.

The town of Sion, near the Italian border, has been on high alert, with armed officers stationed at the crime scenes and roadblocks set up to contain the situation.

Switzerland, known for its high rate of gun ownership, has not experienced a mass shooting since 2001. Despite having around 2.3 million firearms in civilian possession, the country maintains a relatively low murder rate.

The incident in Sion highlights the rarity of such events in Switzerland and the urgency to apprehend the armed suspect as the investigation unfolds.
