Man shot dead by police after two-car crash
Following a car accident, a man who was thought to be carrying a handgun was shot and killed by police. On Sunday, Norfolk Police were called to the A11 at Thetford around 20:35 p. M. , when a man who was believed to be the driver of one of the two cars left the scene with what the police said was described as a handgun. Armed response officers arrived, and the perpetrator was shot by police from "a short distance away. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead on the scene. Following the incident, the A11 London Road remained blocked in both directions, and traffic jams remained in place.
Following the incident, Norfolk Police said it had made a standardized procedure
referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

A complete and independent probe is now underway.
An IOPC spokesperson confirmed that an independent probe had been launched.
