OnlyFans Fined £1.05M Over Age Verification Disclosure Failures

UK communications regulator Ofcom has fined OnlyFans’ parent company, Fenix International, £1.05 million for providing inaccurate information about its age verification measures. The platform initially told regulators its facial estimation technology flagged users under 23 but later admitted it was actually set to 20. Ofcom said this failure to disclose accurate details hindered its ability to oversee compliance.
OnlyFans, which hosts adult content, has since adjusted its age verification threshold to 21 and agreed to comply with future regulations under the Online Safety Act. Ofcom noted the company self-reported the error and settled the case, leading to a reduced fine. “Receiving accurate and complete information is fundamental for Ofcom to do its job,” said enforcement director Suzanne Cater. OnlyFans welcomed the closure of the investigation, reaffirming its commitment to transparency.
