Oasis Warns Fans About Fake Tickets Ahead of North American Tour

Oasis Warns Fans About Fake Tickets Ahead of North American Tour

Oasis has issued a warning to fans about the rise of fake tickets being sold ahead of their highly anticipated North American tour. Before tickets for the shows were even officially available, platforms like StubHub and Vivid Seats were already listing thousands of speculative and fake tickets, some priced far above face value.

The National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) has found evidence of 9,000 fake tickets across these platforms, with some selling for over $11,000.

Oasis warn fans of fraudulent tickets

The band took to social media to caution fans, emphasising that only official resellers like Twickets US and Ticketmaster Fan-to-Fan should be trusted.

A statement from Oasis’ official Twitter/X account read, “Please be aware. Thousands of fake Oasis tickets have already been discovered on Stubhub and Vivid Seats before the North America tour has even gone on sale! @TwicketsUS and @Ticketmaster Fan-to-Fan in the US and Canada are the only official resellers.”

The general sale is set for October 4th, but many fans have already been deceived by these fake listings.

NIVA call for Congress to address fake ticket sales

The issue of predatory ticketing practices has been ongoing, with NIVA now calling for Congress to step in. The association is urging the Senate Commerce Committee to hold a hearing to address the widespread issue of speculative and fake ticket sales. NIVA’s executive director, Stephen Parker, highlighted the harm this practice causes, not only to fans but also to local communities that depend on concert-related revenue.

"The prices for these fake tickets are likely exceedingly higher than the face value of the tickets," Parker said, stressing that fans often lose money on travel and accommodation when duped by false ticket sales.

Oasis confirm dynamic pricing will not be used on their North American tickets

The Gallagher brothers recently announced their North American reunion tour, which  is set to visit cities like Toronto, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Mexico City and includes additional dates due to overwhelming demand. However, this surge in interest has also led to a spike in ticket fraud.

Oasis confirmed that dynamic pricing, a controversial model used during their UK and Ireland sales, will not be applied to the North American dates. The band faced backlash when dynamic pricing led to significant price hikes, which many fans felt was unfair.

To counter the issue, Oasis has partnered with Twickets, ensuring that resold tickets are not priced above face value. However, Twickets itself has faced criticism for its buyer fees, which sometimes exceed £100. Following fan complaints, Twickets has since reduced these fees due to the "exceptional demand" for Oasis tickets.
