Manchester City Announce Record Revenue of £715 Million

Manchester City have reported record-breaking revenue of £715 million for the financial year ending June 30, 2024. This marks a slight increase from their Treble-winning season in 2023, despite not repeating the historic feat. The announcement comes ahead of the Manchester derby, with City currently enduring a challenging run of form.

The club achieved an overall pre-tax profit of £73.8 million, boosted by a remarkable £139 million earned from player sales, including Julian Alvarez and Joao Cancelo. Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak attributed the success to the club's organizational ethos, emphasizing “deliberate and detailed planning” and a commitment to constant improvement since Sheikh Mansour's takeover in 2008.

Khaldoon’s optimism was echoed by CEO Ferran Soriano, who praised the team’s resilience. “Winning the Treble did not lead to complacency,” Soriano stated. “The relentless pursuit of beautiful football and operational excellence requires hard work and resilience.”

City’s dominance isn’t limited to the pitch. The Brand Finance Football 50 Report values the club at £1.33 billion, making it the Premier League's most valuable football brand. They also claim the title of the most-watched football team globally, with 694 million viewers tuning in and over 10 billion social media video views.

While their financial standing is strong, City’s form has dipped. Pep Guardiola’s side has won just one of their last ten matches, putting their season under pressure. Additionally, the club faces a financial squeeze, with rising external charges and ongoing investments, including a £300 million expansion of the Etihad Stadium’s North Stand.

Rivals Manchester United, meanwhile, reported a £113 million loss last year, highlighting contrasting fortunes. As City prepare to face United, the derby offers an opportunity for Guardiola’s side to shift momentum and reaffirm their dominance both on and off the field.
