Haribo Recalls Sweets in the Netherlands After Cannabis Found in Packs
Haribo has issued a recall in the Netherlands after cannabis was discovered in three 1kg bags of its Happy Cola F!ZZ sweets. The recall comes after several people, including children from the same family, reported dizziness and other health complaints. Dutch authorities confirmed the presence of cannabis after testing and warned consumers, “Do not eat these sweets.”
Police are now investigating how the drug ended up in the candy, which was sold in genuine Haribo packaging with a best-before date of January 2026. One couple from Twente handed a bag over to police after their children became “quite sick.” Haribo says the issue is limited to the Netherlands and only affects a specific batch, and is offering refunds for returned products.
“The safety of our consumers is our highest priority,” said Patrick Tax, Haribo’s vice-president of marketing. The company is cooperating with Dutch authorities as they work to establish how the contamination occurred. All other Haribo products remain safe to eat, according to both the company and the Dutch Food Safety Authority.
