Elon Musk Says He Went "Too Far" With Some Of His Recent Posts About Trump

Elon Musk has said that he regrets a series of controversial posts he made about Donald Trump last week, saying they “went too far.” The billionaire’s comments, shared on his social media platform X, come after a highly public fallout with the president, whom he recently accused without evidence of being named in sealed documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. Those posts have since been deleted.
The tension escalated after Musk slammed Trump’s proposed spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination” and urging Americans to pressure lawmakers to kill it. Trump fired back by calling Musk “crazy” and hinted he might pull government contracts from Musk’s companies, including SpaceX, as a response. The dispute marked a sharp turn in their relationship; Musk had previously been one of Trump’s biggest financial backers and even briefly served in his administration.
However, signs of a possible truce have emerged. Musk acknowledged a user’s suggestion that the two should “make peace,” responding, “You’re not wrong.” Trump, meanwhile, has toned down his rhetoric, telling Politico, “It’s going very well, never done better,” when asked about him and Musk firing shots at each other online. Despite their falling out, both men have aligned on issues like immigration, and Republican leaders are hoping the two can reconcile.
