Coco Gauf to headline the U.S. tennis team at the Paris 2024 Olympics

World No.2 Coco Gauf will headline the U.S. tennis team at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Gauff, the reigning U.S. Open champion, is making her Olympic debut this year after missing the Tokyo Games due to a positive COVID-19 test. She will compete in both singles and doubles, teaming up with Jessica Pegula, who has recently returned from a neck injury.

Gauff and Pegula have enjoyed success as a doubles pair, winning five titles together. Gauff secured her first major doubles title at this year's French Open with Katerina Siniakova.

Joining Gauff and Pegula on the women's singles team are Danielle Collins and Emma Navarro. Collins, who plans to retire after this season, has had a stellar year with a 36-11 singles record and two titles. Collins will pair with Desirae Krawczyk in doubles.

On the men's side, Taylor Fritz, the top American at No. 12 in the world, will lead the squad. He will be joined by Tommy Paul, Chris Eubanks, and Marcos Giron in singles. Fritz and Paul will also compete together in doubles, while Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek form the other men's doubles team.

The U.S. Tennis Association announced that they will name a mixed doubles team at a later date. This Olympic lineup features six first-time Olympians, highlighting the fresh talent representing the U.S.

The Olympic tennis competition will take place from July 27 to August 4 at Stade Roland-Garros, a venue Gauff is familiar with, having reached the semifinals there this year and the final in 2022.

With national teams being announced, the spotlight is also on Novak Djokovic, who will represent Serbia while recovering from a meniscus tear suffered during the French Open. As the Olympics approach, anticipation is building for thrilling tennis matches and standout performances from these top athletes.
