8 Injured in Colorado Firebomb Attack
A peaceful demonstration in Boulder, Colorado turned violent on Sunday when a man reportedly shouting “Free Palestine” hurled Molotov cocktails and used a makeshift flamethrower on attendees, injuring eight people between the ages of 52 and 88. The event was part of a weekly walk organized by “Run for Their Lives,” a group that raises awareness for hostages still held by Hamas.
Authorities identified the suspect as 45-year-old Mohamed Soliman, an Egyptian national living in Colorado Springs, who was hospitalized after the attack. FBI officials are treating the incident as an act of terrorism and a possible hate crime. "It is clear that this is a targeted act of violence," said FBI agent Mark Michalek. Boulder Police Chief Stephen Redfearn confirmed they believe Soliman acted alone.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as fire spread through the crowd. One witness said a woman was “lit on fire from head to toe,” while others screamed for water. Among the victims was a Holocaust survivor. The attack has sparked outrage from Jewish leaders and officials, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling it “a direct result of blood libels against the Jewish state and people.”
