Warsaw Man Poses As Mannequin During Jewellery Shop Theft

A young man in Warsaw has been accused of an unusual theft in a local shopping centre. The 22-year-old, whose identity remains undisclosed, allegedly posed as a mannequin in a Warsaw shop window to steal jewellery after the store had closed for the night.

Surveillance footage captured the individual standing still and holding a bag inside an unnamed shop within the shopping centre. Authorities report that he waited until he felt it was safe to spring into action before committing the theft.

The man is also accused of targeting another shopping centre. In a strange sequence of events, the police have said that he dined at a local restaurant within the shopping centre before going to a clothing store to exchange his clothes for new ones before returning to the same restaurant for another meal.

The individual was detained when security staff noticed his behaviour and alerted the authorities. He now faces multiple charges including burglary and theft, which could result in a prison sentence of up to 10 years. Police spokesperson Robert Szumiata revealed that the suspect was already known for previous incidents where he stole money from cash registers and attempted to steal other items in a separate incident.

The accused individual has been remanded in custody for a period of three months, as the authorities in Warsaw work to unravel the full extent of his thefts.
