Four arrests after Trump and Epstein images projected on Windsor Castle

Four arrests

Four men were arrested on Tuesday after projecting images of Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein onto a building as the US president arrived in the United Kingdom for a state visit. Following the public display in Windsor, they were arrested on suspicion of malicious communications and remained in detention, according to Thames Valley Police. The arrested men were a 60-year-old from East Sussex, a 36-year-old from London, and a 37-year-old from Kent. The force stated that an investigation was underway after officers "responded swiftly" to stop the projection on the castle, where Trump was scheduled to meet King Charles on Wednesday, the first full day of his state visit.

Additional Details on the Visit and Protests

The US president was an acquaintance of Epstein in the 1990s and early 2000s. Trump has never been found guilty of any wrongdoing in connection with the deceased paedophile financier. Separately, Lord Peter Mandelson, the UK's ambassador to the United States, was dismissed from his role a week after the prime minister sacked him due to his relationship with Epstein. On Wednesday morning, a van could be seen in Windsor carrying a photograph of Trump and Epstein with the words: "Welcome to the United Kingdom, Donald."

Trump arrived in London late on Tuesday and spent the night at the US ambassador's residence in the city. Several demonstrators had gathered in Windsor ahead of the tour, and a significant police operation will be in place in the town until the state visit concludes on Thursday. According to the Metropolitan Police, more than 1,600 officers would be deployed in central London on Wednesday, ahead of a demonstration organised by the Stop Trump Alliance. The president and First Lady Melania are scheduled to have a private lunch with members of the Royal Family, explore Queen Elizabeth II's tomb, and give a speech at the castle during a traditional state banquet.
